Poco a poco. / Slowly.

Mi proyecto va avanzando, poco a poco! En realidad, tenía la esperanza de que avanzara mucho más deprisa y poder tenerlo terminado antes de que se acabe el verano, pero la realidad es que tampoco me puedo dedicar al 100% a él, no exactamente por falta de tiempo, si no ya de capacidad mental. Lo que me cansa más de este proyecto, es la diferencia que hay entre cómo quiero que queden mis dibujos y cómo acaban quedando realmente. Es... frustrante. Pero esta frustración es un proceso necesario; hay que pasarlo lo mejor que se pueda y ya está. Y poco a poco, espero ir mejorando :)

My project is making progress, little by little! The truth is, I had the hope that it progressed a lot quickly, so I could have it ended before the summer ends, but the fact is that I can't completely dedicate myself to it, not exactly because I don't have time, but because my mental capacity. What tires me more about this project, is the huge difference between how I want it to be, and how it really is. It's... frsutrating. But the frustration is a necessary process, I have to go throught it. And slowly, I hope I will be getting better. :)

Galaxies project

Y estos son algunos dibujos sueltos que he estado haciendo.

Copernica.

He aquí una recopilación de lo último que he estado haciendo, es decir, desarrollando el personaje principal de Galaxies, Copérnica Moon. Quiero específicamente que el corto sea mezcla de espacial y medieval, así que busqué un nombre que sonara a eso. Sé que es un poco ridículo, pero me hizo gracia, y de todas formas tampoco es que vaya a salir literalmente su nombre en el corto, ya que será (¿sería?) todo musical.

This is a collection of what I've been doing lately, which is developing Galaxies' main character, Copernica Moon. I want specifically that the short looks spacey and middle-agey at the same time, so I looked for a name that sound like that. I know is quite ridiculous, but it seemed funny and it won't appear in the actual short anyway, because it's going to be musical. 

 

Verano galáctico. / Galactic Summer.

¡Ya es verano para mí! ¡Soy libre!
He estado esperando este momento como agua de mayo durante mes y pico, aunque la verdad es que, ahora que ha llegado, me encuentro cansada y más apática de lo que creía. Inocente de mí pensar que al acabar los exámenes estaría fresca como una rosa.
Pero lo importante es no parar, así que he empezado finalmente el proyecto que había planeado en Barcelona, y que es el desarrollo visual de un corto galáctico que tengo en la cabeza desde hace como dos años. Así que esperad muchas, muchas cosas del espacio por aquí próximamente. ¡Disfrutad!

It's summer for me! I'm free!
I've been madly expecting this moment during the last month or so, and truth is that now it's here, I'm more tired than I thought I would be. It was innocent from me to think that at the end of the exams I would be fresh. 
But it's important to not stop, so I've finally started the project I had planned in Barcelona, and which is the visual development of a galactic short film I had in mind since the last two years or so. So expect lots of space stuff on my blog the next months. Enjoy!

Las grandes noticias de estos días son: ¡soy finalista de un concurso de diseño! Es un concurso especialmente interesante, porque, en el caso de que gane, van a imprimir mi logo en todos los productos de Sobrassada Mallorquina, el producto más característico de mi tierra, y que unos buenos miles de turistas se llevan a sus países al año. No es moco de pavo, me ha hecho mucha ilusión! Voy a pasar la semana de examenes muy contenta. Abajo, unos extractos del lifebook y un dibujete que me dio tiempo a hacer entre estudio y estudio.

Big news: I'm a finalist in a design contest! It's an interesting contest because, if I win, they're going to print my logo in all the products of Majorcan sausage, the most characteristic product of my land, and which a lot of tourists carry to their countries each year. It's nothing to sneeze at, I'm very excited! I'm gonna spend the tests week very happy. Below, some lifebook pages and a little drawing that I managed to do among study. 

Lifebook, 6 - 10 Junio/June

Mom: Pau has come to see you 5 minutes ago; he left because you weren't there.
Me: That boy, he could have waited for me! He must be around, I'm gonna call him.

Cuando no tengo tiempo para ponerme a dibujar seriamente, los pequeños momentos de dibujo rápido y anecdótico en mi libreta, son muy importantes para mí, ya que son mi dosis de imaginación/creatividad diaria. Me he dado cuenta de que prácticamente todo es traducible a anécdota, desmintiendo la concepción que tenía anteriormente de que para hacer tiras de comic hay que tener una idea súper elaborada sobre la que trabajar, y que todas deben tener "un mensaje". Yo no es que quiera contar nada específico con mis tiras (no sé ni si se pueden llamar tiras), sino que son pequeñas capturas de pantalla a mi realidad.

When I don't have the time to draw seriously, the little moments of quick and anecdotal drawing are very important to me, as they are my daily dosis of imagination/creativity. I noticed that almost everything is translatable into a story, denying my previous misconception about needing to have very elaborate ideas and messages behind any comic. I don't want to tell anything particulary with my strips (don't even know if they can be called strips), but to me they are little screencaps of my reality.

Lo único que he conseguido dibujar a parte de las tiras, son unos esbozos de Brienne y Jaime (Juego de Tronos), que están siendo lo mejorcito de la temporada. Aunque ya lo he leído, me emociona igual! Jaime Lannister me parece un personaje brillante, y Brienne cada vez me gusta más.

The only other thing I've managed to draw, are some sketches of Brienne and Jaime (Game of Thrones), who are being the best of the season. Even I've already read it, I get excited! Jaime Lannister is a brilliant character, and I love more Brienne day after day.   

 

La verdad es que me parece mejor la Brienne de la serie que la del libro, mucho más expresiva de lo que me la imaginaba. En realidad me la imaginaba como una especie de Loras lesbiana. Mejor la actriz de ahora (aunque por otra parte es demasiado guapa). 

Truth is I like more series-Brienne than books-Brienne, she's more expressive than I imagined her. Really, I imagined her as a kind of lesbian Loras. Better the actual actress (even on the other hand, she's too pretty).

Ponerse al día. / Getting updated.

Me lo pasé genial en Barcelona pero, desgraciadamente, ¡ya he vuelto a la normalidad!

Durante el viaje, eché de menos Mallorca en muchos aspectos, pero las clases de Ilustración no son una de ellas. Como el año pasado no acabé el primer curso (pensaba dejarlo, pero a finales de verano cambié de idea), estoy repitiendo algunas asignaturas. De ellas, la más difícil es sin duda Fundamentos del Diseño, no sólo porque abarca muchísimos aspectos que podrían desarrollarse en asignaturas enteras, sino porque el profesor es un tío muy exigente y a la vez muy poco comunicativo acerca de los resultados que espera. 

I had an awesome time at Barcelona but, unfortunately, I've come back to normal!

During the trip, I missed Mallorca in a lot of ways, but Illustration classes weren't one of them. As I didn't finish the course last year (I wanted to quit, but at the end of summer I changed my mind), I'm repeating some assignments. Within them, the most difficult one is Design Principles, not only because it covers a lot of aspects which could be whole assignments themselves, but also because the teacher is a very exigent guy at the same time he's not communicative at all about the results he wants. 

After patiently waiting one hour for teacher to come,  finally it's my turn.
- I've been in Barcelona for a month, so I need some help to be up-to-date with work.
- Yeah, ask your classmates.

En fin, conseguí ponerme al día del trabajo: el diseño y maquetación de una revista de creación propia. Si no fuera porque ya hice una el año pasado (que suspendí), estaría muy acabada, porque es un trabajo muuuuy laborioso que más o menos requiera que sepas todo lo sabible sobre diseño.

De momento tengo las portadas aboceteadas.  

Anyway, I managed to got updated with work: the design and layout of a magazine of own creation. If it wasn't because the one I already did last year (and I failed), I would be done, because it's a very laborious work which requires me to know everything knowable about design.

I already have a sketch of the covers.
